The summer ‘to do’ list is a fantastic fantasy world that #HigherEd professionals live in. Each and every year, we hear colleagues, supervisors and ourselves say these precious words, “put it on the summer to do list”. Sure thing! Then, the day after commencement, the doors to the fantasy portal open, we walk in, find ourselves with infinite time and energy to perform these tasks from rewriting the student code of conduct to delegating to the summer work study student the truckload of records that can be archived, shredded or simply tossed. It’s a beautiful place to live, this fantasy portal of productivity.
