At the start of the fall semester the news was bright. Perhaps the pandemic didn’t hit as hard as had been predicted. With the elite “bumper sticker” campuses showing strong, diverse and healthy sized classes, and large publics showing that they had weathered the covid storm. But with the release of National Clearinghouse Data reality struck.
Drill down on the data and it doesn’t surprise anyone who has worked on an enrollment dependent campus … small campuses and less-selective campuses are getting hit harder. At the start of the pandemic, NYU’s favorite podcasting prof, Scott Galloway went on a rant about how COVID-19 may be the great equalizer when it comes to college costs and inequality. Prof. Galloway has brought this argument to CNN, Bloomberg, the New York Times and his podcast and social media platforms.
