We are in the midst of a heaviness that simply won’t subside. In the last month I have provided support to, with and for people who have experienced death, trauma and incredible difficulties. In some people, I have seen resilience during their time of healing largely facilitated by encircling themselves with loved ones who are there to envelop them in love and compassion. Yet in others, I have seen something more akin to isolation and confusion. They are seeking understanding from humanity, the same humanity that they genuinely feel they have provided allyship and support for in the past. Now, they are alone. They are grieving and alone.
Humanity needs one another. But today we are failing one another. Acting in inhuman ways toward the very humans that we stood next to, learned from, promoted, and even encouraged.
