In 1993, NASPA celebrated their 75th year with a conference in Boston. I was a new professional in Residence Life at the time and this is where I started my professional development journey. Each time I return to a NASPA event, I find old friends and try and re-connect with who I am as a professional. This week I will be attending a portion of the NASPA conference in New Orleans, but this time concentrating my efforts from the faculty side.

I am hoping to use this opportunity to connect with scholars of the practice with the goal of embarking on a new chapter in my own life - publishing and being part of a team of researchers. The idea of putting myself out there in such a way is scary, but if I want to open more doors down the road, it is time to ignore the anxiety and move with confidence as I know that what I bring to the table is, well, me.
Pay attention to this space over the next few days and let’s see how I do.
