Ah, April—the month that tests, strains and infuriates #HigherEd faculty and administrators everywhere. It’s a time when final exams loom large, end-of-year events pile up like unread emails, and warm weather tempts students to swap out their Stanley Cups with BORGS. There are times while conducting seemingly endless rounds of campus breaking up beer pong parties and cleaning up after spring weekend shenanigans I wondered if T.S. Eliot was secretly a university administrator when he declared, “April is the cruelest month.”
Yet, amidst the chaos, there’s a strange beauty to it all—a mix of exhaustion, sentimentality, and hope for what’s to come… aka: Summer. Indeed, as the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers,” and caps and gowns.
