On March 13, 2020 my world shut down for the pandemic. On March 6, 2024 I finally got Covid. 1 out of 5 stars … would not recommend. The reality is that I have been enough of a rule follower, using the tools available to me (vaccines, tests and masks when necessary) to live a very normal life. The tools matter and I do believe that this allowed for me to have a relatively midland experience with the virus. I slept a lot, and thankfully the weather in New England was on the warm side, so I slept with the window open most of the time. That seemed to help.
I decided specifically not to announce my diagnosis on social media. I did share the information with those who I may have exposed, and a couple of friends who I had made plans with and needed to reschedule. But other than that, I kept it quiet, and followed the science and medical advice. While I love my friends, the last thing that I wanted to do was post on the internet my medical diagnosis. I didn’t have the energy for all the unsolicited advice I was going to get.
